I like the new look and feel and how the functions have been organized. On the other side, I preferred the old font and I think that the new icon is horrible. The old one without the leather effect should have been better and equally Ive-style.

I am shocked, *shocked* that this app has any bad reviews at all. I wrote my dissertation on this app. I use it everyday for work (I am a professional writer, and earn good money doing it). Please, Soulmen, do not give up on Daedalus in favor of Ulysses. Ulysses has its place—its great for organizing all of your writing, almost like a database of your text. But it is not Daedalus. Not by a long shot. When it comes to writing, anywhere, on any device, in any way, Daedalus is king. This is *the* editor for writers. Writers. If you write books, try Daedalus. If youre an Alphasmart fan, try Daedalus. If you use WriteRoom, try Daedalus. If youre stuck on an eMate or some other ancient device for writing, try Daedalus. If your word processor is distracting, try Daedalus. If you want to be one with your text, try Daedalus. I dont know whether Ive ever bothered to review an app in the App Store before, but I cant rate this app highly enough. The editor Ive been waiting for for years, since long before the iPad existed. Youll know right away, there is no middle ground: either its the answer to your problems or its just not for you. In my case, Ive put hundreds of thousands of words into Daedalus, and there is no going back. Everything else feels like a straitjacket to me now. And hopefully the app is around and supported for a long, long time on lots of devices still to come.
Lost full sets of notes twice now. Beautiful writing interface but the instability makes it unusable.
Its easy simple to use and surprisingly powerful.
Occasionally it wont open for me. And I have to do a hard reset to get it working again. I think it has something to do with connectivity to the internet/iCloud. Im going to ignore that issue for now. Since it rarely happens. And unsure of the cause. Ive started writing in this app again. Still trying to come up with best practices. I tend to put to much on a page. So I need to decide what is the right amount. I like exporting my efforts to iBook and reading there. It looks so nice that way. I mostly use this app on my ipad not my iphone. For writing I like the bigger screen. I like the app a lot. Most of my issues involve how best to use it with my style of writing. Its hard to get away from the fold file approach to life. Yet I do think this way is better.
Great, simple to use product. I use it everyday. In a 3 year effort with multiple databases, I use Daedalus for my sales call notes. It is unique in that it provides a full or partial word search through all of your records in your your entire application. No specially formatted keywords, no toggling to different fields, no date fields, no missed records because you forgot to save the record. Auto backup with Dropbox is brilliant! With this program, you just write, knowing that a simple global search will bring up the needed data highlighted in the entire note, visually in context. You flip through the pages viewing the hits extremely fast. That is a HUGE timesaver. In a database, you do a query and you get a list of hits. You then have to click on each hit to discover your needed text.
I write all the time in this app, but over the course of a year, Ive left it and all the stuff Ive ever written was just gone. This just happened to me! Come on guys, can you fix that? How can I write in an App I dont even trust?
What a joy to use! Finally a great way to organize my writing. Love using a stack as a project (blog postings, short story or a novel) then writing different chapters as sheets. A great writing assistant! And being able to export directly to ePub is beyond words. Thank you devs!!!
I followed the instructions at the beginning of the app. Confusing!! I couldnt even figure out how to delete a page. Instructions said flyout menu comes out, but it doesnt. There is a reason folders and documents are still around. They work the best. Way to make something simple so complex I give up. Geez. K.I.S.S.???
Auto sync! Please add a smaller font size option. If this app became Ulysses for iPad I would be so happy! (Or you could release another app for the iOS version of Ulysses, that works fine. Please!)
Unfortunately, WebDAV support is not as capable as competing apps. I’m using a self-hosted Seafile server, which apps “UX Write” and “iFiles” have no problem connecting to. But Daedalus gives me an error: “Login failed Authentication failed! Please check your login and password.” I wish there had been a way to test this before making the in-app purchase (and even more, I wish WebDAV support were fixed, so I could use Daedalus)!
Why the Chinese jiggling is still not fixed? It doesnt matter what font I choose, even the Chinese Hei font. Please fix it.
I really like this app and i used to write with arabic all my note and ideas, but it doesnt support "text alignment to right", so i purchased the full pack and hoped it support alignment and i am a bit disappointed. It was 3.99$ and that was the only feature i wanted and it doesnt exist! Please make it exist and make me happy! Thanks :) P.s i give it 4 stars for this missing feature. And will give it 5 stars when it support alignments. (Even the ordinary notebook that came in iOS support alignment!)
I dont write reviews. Daedalus is exceptional. No regrets!
I try Daedalus every couple months at least, hoping that the things I want to see will be there. So far no luck. What I’d like: - export to HTML, either to file or clipboard or to another app - export rich text to clipboard - export rich text to the body of an email (not an attachment) - a markdown preview window/mode - narrower margins, especially in landscape - custom font sizes (current default is too large, especially with the wide margins) - use *my* font in exports and let me deal with the consequences. Without these features I can’t make myself stick with the app. But I really want to. I love the stack metaphor.
How about "Adjust Margins" as a feature? Or are such things only as rewards for having the "prettier" iOS 7? (Or are we on 8 now? I forget, seeing as some of us are too busy actually trying to get work done). For heavens sake, pls just make the basic things available to all your users, and that includes full screen whether were reading or editing. Because I think I paid for this app. Thanks.
It takes a while to get the feel of this unusual app, but its a worthwhile investment. Lots of nice features. Made with care. With more development, it could be outstanding.
I love this app. Its just what I was looking for in a note taking app. Beautiful. Easy to use. Simple to navigate and search. Syncs with iCloud. Its everything I need and then some. Get this app! You will love it!
This is one of my favorite apps to use when I want to write poems or stories. I love being about to turn stacks into files such as rtf, pdf, txt, and ePub. There is even the option to email it to yourself, which I absolutely love. Make sure, if you use this app, you back up often. Every version update stacks can go missing. Hence the 4/5 stars. I wish there was an option to add color to the font on each page.
I paid for this app, but to get cloud services I need to make an in-app purchase? Thats just not fair to early adopters. And just use iCloud instead of charging for your cloud—technically your case for why you did not use iCloud does not follow, there had to be other options to provide this feature, since Im already paying for an iCloud storage upgrade and am not going to buy a cloud account for every app I use. Surely I must be mistaken....
